Director of Guest Services
Job Summary
Esalen Institute, the pioneering educational organization dedicated to personal and social transformation, is looking for a natural service-oriented visionary to fill a newly created position of Director of Guest Services. The Director of Guest Services will lead and coach the operations of Reservations, Reception, Food Services, Housekeeping, Retail, Gate/Security and Healing Arts. This position will report directly to the C.E.O. of Esalen and be a member of the executive committee.
You will be charged with co-creating and championing guest service practices that both reflect the Esalen style of authenticity in service while embracing a style of service that is intuitive, empathic, compassionate and creative (service from the heart). You will also be responsible, with the support of the C.E.O. and executive team, for the implementation of this service. This role will play a very important part of leading Esalen to its next level of evolution.

Core general responsibilities include:
- Engage with all levels of staff to ensure the values, vision, and mission of Esalen are upheld.
- Responsible for the guest service experience and smooth running operations of: Reservations, Reception, Food Services, Housekeeping, Retail, Gate/Security and Healing Arts.
- Maintain a high level of operational integrity, accountability and transparency.
- Ensure fiscal discipline, budgetary control and financial integrity.
- Partner with the Director’s Group to contribute to a seamless and creative interface between guest services and the efforts of all other departments at Esalen.
- Contribute to the strategic management process, which guides the development and implementation of the Esalen vision, mission, goals and strategies.
Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with experience. You may also be eligible to receive housing, if available, or a housing allowance. Full health benefits and annual vacation are provided.
